[edit] What is a Oral Swab Drug Test?
A oral swab drug test generally involves the donor giving a sample of saliva to the drug testing entity to test for drug use. After saliva collection from the donor, the oral swab drug test sample is either tested on-site or sent out to a lab for more exhaustive oral swab drug testing. On-site oral swab drug testing provide qualitative results, and when supplemented with laboratory-based confirmation oral swab drug tests, can be defended in a court of law.
| Oral Swab Drug Test Overview:
The oral swab drug test simply involves using a swab that looks very similar to a common toothbrush but in place of bristles a pad that serves to collect the saliva in the mouth. The pad is placed between the lower cheek and gum for about two minutes. Once saturated with saliva the pad is then transfered to a collection vial. Many of the most commonly abused drugs can be detected in saliva including marijuana, thc, heroin, cocaine and amphetamines. A oral swab drug test can generally detect drug use during the previous few days and are as accurate as urine drug tests. Saliva or oral fluid based drug tests are becoming more prevalent because of their convenience and the fact that they can not be adulterated. Furthermore, on-site saliva based tests in particular enable the implementation of random testing programs, proven to be the most effective type of drug screening and the most difficult to pass. |
